Police Respond to Fatal Accidents, Shootings this Spring Break Weekend

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Local law enforcement kept busy this Spring Break weekend, responding to several accidents, some deadly, and even shootings across the Coastal Bend.

Since last Monday, Department of Public Safety troopers responded to six fatal crashes, three just this weekend alone. That's not including a fatal wreck on Highway 361 that the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to.

One of the busiest areas was Port Aransas. On the beach, officers responded to fights and were on the lookout for underage drinking. A 3News viewer provided video that shows what appear to be two DPS troopers who were forced to use Tasers on a Spring Breaker following a fight in Port Aransas on Saturday.

Despite the rowdy crowds, Port Aransas police said they made a few arrests but they did not see more crimes or emergencies than usual during Spring Break. The CCPD said they are still tallying up all the arrests made here in Corpus Christi and out on Padre Island.
