CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The woman accused of fatally running over her common-law husband while she was pregnant, pled not guilty to murder on Monday.

Investigators said Dena Gomez ran over Alfredo Ayala outside of a bar in August of 2013 because she was upset that he went out with his friends. Witnesses at the scene said Gomez hit Ayala on the head with a bottle and when he came out to the parking lot, she ran him over.

Gomez was pregnant with Ayala's child at the time, and gave birth to the couple's second child in December.
