Local Grandmother Wins $15,000 in Dream Big Giveaway Sweepstakes

Cynthia Petri, a grandmother of five and the first prize winner in the Dream Big Giveaway sponsored by Carl Buddig & Co., was awarded a check for $15,000 on Tuesday.

The check presentation, held at 10 a.m. in the Longboat Room in the Emerald Beach Hotel on Shoreline Boulevard, followed a continental breakfast. Representatives from Carl Buddig and Co. presented the $15,000 check to Petri and her husband, Pete.

Petri won in a random drawing against 17,000 entries in the Dream Big Giveaway sweepstakes. A total of $75,000 in prize winnings were given out as part of the sweepstakes. Petri won first place.

    Firefighters were called out Tuesday afternoon to the the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina, in the 700 block of Shoreline Boulevard.The entire hotel was evacuated and Corpus Christi police were dispatched to assist firefighters with traffic control. As of around 4 p.m., the fire was out and guests were allowed to return to their hotel rooms.Guests staying on the third and fourth floors of the hotel, which received the most smoke from the blaze, will be given new rooms according to hotel officials....More >>
