CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi City Council confirmed Tuesday Austin Attorney Barney Knight as the new interim city attorney after Roxann Cotroneo withdrew her acceptance for the job in February.

"I like the growth, direction that I've seen, management-wise and otherwise, in the city," Knight said. "I have 40 years municipal experience, management and legal, so I think I can help and hope I can."

Knight's experience includes serving as former city manager of Temple, Texas, as well as former Austin city attorney and acting Austin city manager. He will be paid $16,000 a month while the City searches for a permanent attorney.

The search is expected to last three or four months.
