Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Diabetes is a growing epidemic in the Coastal Bend, and the American Diabetes Association is hoping to combat the disease with an upcoming ride.

The Tour de Cure is happening March 29, starting and finishing at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center. There are four different rides, ranging from 10-60 miles.

Area Director of the American Diabetes Association Erin Wilder said the ride is for anyone, from the serious cyclist to even those who have just been diagnosed with diabetes. All of the money raised will go towards fighting diabetes.

Last year, $165,000 dollars was raised, and this year the goal is to reach $175,000. Anyone can sign up for a $25 fee and need to raise $150.

For more information on signing up, you can go to www.diabetes.org/coastalbendtour.
