A construction worker was killed Thursday after he was struck by an 18-wheeler passing through the construction site he was working at.

It happened at around 1 p.m. on Highway 77, just outside of Sinton.

The victim, 60-year old Marciano Martinez-Garcia, was trying to cross the highway at a stretch of road that was closed down to one lane. The driver of the 18-wheeler saw Garcia and tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, but unfortunately, Garcia was struck by the right side of his trailer.

There has been no word as to whether or not the driver of the 18-wheeler will face any charges.
