Moody, Calallen Notch Key District Wins

Rivals Moody and Calallen might be on a collision course later down the line in the playoffs, and for now both are cruising towards the postseason.

Moody, ranked #1 in Class 4A, shut out Flour Bluff 4-0 in a battle of previously unbeaten teams in District 31-4A. Senior ace Kenny Saenz struck out 14 Hornets in the win.

Calallen, ranked #3 in Class 4A, beat Victoria East 5-1 up at Riverside Stadium. Both teams were also unbeaten in District 30-4A. The 'Cats' Kyle Hill gave up a game-tying homerun in the bottom of the second inning before shutting down the Titans the rest of the way.

    Firefighters were called out Tuesday afternoon to the the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina, in the 700 block of Shoreline Boulevard.The entire hotel was evacuated and Corpus Christi police were dispatched to assist firefighters with traffic control. As of around 4 p.m., the fire was out and guests were allowed to return to their hotel rooms.Guests staying on the third and fourth floors of the hotel, which received the most smoke from the blaze, will be given new rooms according to hotel officials....More >>
