Helping Pets Affected by Domestic Violence

Several local organizations are teaming up to help the pets of domestic violence victims.

Experts say 71% of domestic violence victims have reported that their abuser either threatened, hurt or killed their pet. That's the reason for this Go Purple event at the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

The Humane Society, along with The Cattery and People Assisting Animal Control are teaming up with the Women's Shelter of South Texas to set up a foster program for animals that are coming from a domestic violence situation.
