KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

The 2014 Wings Over South Texas Air Show is sure to be a blast for you and your family, but there are some things you might want to know before heading out there, like what not to take with you.

In order to keep dangerous items outside of the flight line, bags will be inspected as you enter through various entrances and individuals will be searched. So to keep delays to a minimum, the following items will not be allowed on the flight line and might be confiscated:

Ice chests and coolers
Large bags (bags larger than a small purse or fanny pack), duffle bags, briefcases, large camera bags, and large packages
Backpacks
All weapons (regardless of permit) including: firearms, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), walking sticks (except for handicap use), and all other items that the NASK Security force may deem dangerous.
All confiscated items will not be returned.
Alcoholic beverages
Pets (other than service animals)
Glass Containers
Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades or skateboards

The following items are authorized, but will be inspected prior to entering the flight line. Event organizers recommend that you minimize the number and size of authorized items to reduce inspection time:

Cell phones, pagers and FRS transceivers (may be asked to turn off or on)
Handheld portable radios, TVs and scanners
Small fanny packs and purses
Cameras and camcorders (may be required to open these items during inspection)
Folding chairs and lawn chairs (chairs in bags are subject to search)
Umbrellas and sunshades
Wheelchairs
Baby bags and strollers, if attending with an infant or small child. Please note that strollers are not permitted in the grandstand area. Adjacent stroller parking is available.

And by the way, smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on the flight line, in the vicinity of aircraft or vendor tents. Designated smoking areas will be outside of the entrance to the flight line, and you will have to go through inspection points upon reentry.

Admission and parking is free for the event, which takes place March 29-30 at Naval Air Station-Kingsville. Gates will open at 8 a.m. air show weekend, with the midway opening at 9 a.m. and the show starting at 11 a.m.
