Driver Arrested for Fatal Hit and Run

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

We have new information about the overnight accident that lead to the death of one man. Police say the victim was walking down the side of the road along Highway 181 when he was struck by a vehicle.

Calls flooded into the police dispatch center around 2:15 Saturday morning after a number of drivers saw the 42 year old victim lying on the side of the highway.

He was near the Beach Avenue exit.

He suffered critical injuries, and was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Late Saturday, Corpus Christi Police tell 3 News they have arrested 52-year-old Tammy Shobar for the crime.

Officers were able to get information on the vehicle that fled the scene after an officer found a green 2005 Volkswagen Beetle on the side of the road with damage.

Shobar is being detained at the City Detention Center.
