Texas Parks and Wildlife Patrols Area Beaches for Wildlife Impacted by Oil

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

So far, according to officials, there are no reports of wildlife being impacted from the tar balls that are washing up along the coast from Port Aransas to Corpus Christi.  However 3 News viewer Robert Johnson sent us this picture of an oil soaked bird he says he found near Mike Ellis Beach on Padre Island.  By the time our 3 News photographer arrived, the bird had already been picked up.

Officials from Texas Parks and Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife are actively engaged in patrolling potentially impacted areas. Persons who observe any impacted wildlife should not attempt to capture or handle them but are urged to call 888-384-2000.
