Javelinas Take Three of Four From Tarleton St.

KINGSVILLE (Javelina Athletics) - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team closed its series with Tarleton State with a 4-2 victory on Sunday.
 
The Javelinas won three of four games in this Lone Star Conference match-up to move to 20-12 overall, 13-7 in conference.
 
Tarleton moves to 17-13 overall, 8-10 in LSC.
 
Kingsville struck first in the second inning when James Black singled to left field and was driven in by Brian Frazier when he doubled to left center field, 1-0.
 
In the bottom of sixth inning, Frazier doubled again to drive in Black and Ryan Guedry, 3-0. Frazier would finish the game with three RBI and two hits.
 
The Texans went scoreless the first seven innings and eventually scored two runs in the top of the eighth. Garrett Kilgore doubled to drive in Alvaro Moreno and Rustin Thomas to make the score 3-2.
 
Kingsville would seal up the win in the bottom of the eighth when Miles Holcomb hit his first home run into left field to bring the score to 4-2.
 
Kingsville hasn't allowed more than three run in a game since March 18th.
 
Matt Rhodes (5-2) picks up the win pitching 7.1 innings with 6 strikeouts. He allowed two runs with two earned on seven hits. Ryan Scott earns his sixth save of the season tossing 1-2/3 innings of 1-hit baseball. Prior to this game, Scott has only pitched one inning for the season.
 
Kyle Gottardy (2-2) suffers the loss for the Texans with 5.1 innings of work, three runs with two earned on eight hits.
 
Kingsville will be in action again on Nolan Ryan Field on Wednesday against St. Mary's, first pitch is set for 6 p.m. All tickets will be $1 thanks to flower girls.

    Two Edinburg Police Officers are recovering after they were shot Tuesday evening in La Joya as they attempted to serve a capital murder warrant. The suspect in the shooting, 29-year-old Joaquin Cibrian, was shot and killed following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Cibrian was arrested in September of last year in Alice for allegedly using city equipment and materials to make extra cash. He was a city employee at the time.More >>
