HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Attorneys are laying out their case to the jury in the murder trial of a woman accused of killing her boyfriend with a stiletto shoe.

Ana Trujillo is charged with murdering University of Houston professor Stefan Anderson last June. Police say she stabbed him multiple times with her shoe.

Trujillo's attorney, Jack Carroll, claims his client acted in self-defense when Anderson tried to keep her from leaving their apartment. She's expected to take the stand.

"She's presumed innocent. She doesn't have to get up there and testify. She doesn't have to do anything, but juries will hold that against somebody at times," Carroll said. "I do like to put my clients on the stand, especially when I think the prosecution has a weak case. To get a self-defense issue, I'd probably have to put her on stand."

Carroll says there's also evidence Trujillo was injured the night of the stabbing.
