West Oso Seniors Participate in Beach Cleanup on Padre Island

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Seniors from West Oso High School hit the beaches Monday carrying plastic bags, all to help clean up the trash that is left behind by beach goers.

The students said they are glad to be doing their part to help the environment.

"There are blue bins set up all over the beach," student Aracely Saldana said. "They could just walk to it and throw it away. It's not like there's no trash to put it in."

They did not clean up anything that was affected by the oil, which has been turning up on our beaches and is believed to be due to the recent oil spill in the Houston ship channel, because they are not trained or authorized to clean up oil.
