CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A 35-year old man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing a work truck from a convenience store parking lot in the 14000 block of Northwest Boulevard.

It was just after 10 a.m. when police responded to reports that a man had left his company vehicle in the convenience store parking lot with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. He had gone inside the store, and when he came out, the vehicle was gone.

Officers teamed up with the Nueces County Sheriff's Office and, using a tracking device that was installed in the work truck, were able to track the vehicle to a private driveway on FM 1889. There, they found 35-year old Benjamin Govella and arrested him for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The work truck was returned to the man it was taken from, and Govella was taken to the City Detention Center.
