CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A police manhunt for a Rockport man wanted for continuous sexual assault of a child ended with the fugitives suicide just after 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Red Dot Pier near the JFK Causeway.

U.S. Marshals, the Department of Public Safety and the Corpus Christi Police Department had been looking for 38-year old Jonathan Michaud since Monday, even dispatching a DPS chopper to search the area. Michaud had last been seen in the Rockport area, and they believed he was still there.

At around 6:15 p.m., officers got information that Michaud was in a stolen pickup truck on Padre Island. An officer spotted the stolen truck at the bait stands near JFK Causeway.

Officers arrived at the Red Dot Pier and confronted Michaud, asking him to surrender, but he did not comply and instead shot himself.

Medics were called out to the pier and transported Michaud to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, where he died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
