Students Raise Money for Children Battling Cancer

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Local students spent this morning raising money for kids battling cancer by putting together an all you can eat waffle breakfast.

More than one thousand people woke up bright and early Saturday morning and brought their appetites to Carroll High School. The breakfast fundraiser will benefit the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation. The non-profit was founded by James Ragan, who passed away in February after a long battle with pediatric cancer. Today, we spoke with his sister who continues to run the foundation in honor of her brother.

James' sister, Mecklin told 3 News, "I've said it before, James was worried at the end of his life that he would be forgotten that no one would remember him when he was gone. a day like today is a true testament that his legacy will live on."

Shirts were also being sold with the saying, "no one fights alone." It was a powerful statement demonstrated during Saturday's fund raising efforts.
