CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Politics was the main issue at hand Sunday during a campaign stop for the democratic candidate running one of the state's top spots. Senator Leticia Van de Putte's bus tour made a stop right here in Corpus Christi Sunday.

Senator Van de Putte is the democratic candidate running for the 2014 Texas Lieutenant Governor seat.

Today, she met with supporters over at the Nueces County party headquarters. Van de Putte told 3 News, "I'm here to visit with people and ask for their support for Lt. Gov. I'm a pharmacist. I want to focus on education and on roads and on our water systems."

Senator Van de Putte will face off against the winner of the May 27th Lt. Gov. Republican runoff election between incumbent David Dewhurst or State Senator Dan Patrick.

Election day is November 4th.
