Texas State Aquarium Encourages Eating Lionfish Predators

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

They are the new kings of the gulf...with no known predators except for now.

The Lionfish are beautiful venomous creatures that are invading and threatening the Gulf of Mexico.

But now the Texas State Aquarium says the predators that can help dwindle down the Lionfish population in our area are....humans.

Sarah Acosta with 3News was live during First Edition with the Texas State Aquarium learning how people can safely learn how to cook the fish and how the public can taste them at an upcoming event.

The event will be held in the aquarium lobby from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 15 and costs $20 for members and $25 for non-members, all proceeds will go toward supporting education and control of lionfish.
