CCPD Serves Warrant for Illegal Gaming at It'll Do Saloon

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The manager, owner and at least one employee of the It'll Do Saloon in the 4100 block of Gollihar are facing criminal charges after Corpus Christi police served a warrant for illegal gaming Thursday.

The Corpus Christi Police Department's Narcotics-Vice investigators, who were joined by a K-9 unit, served the warrant at around 2 p.m. at the bar in the 4100 block of Gollihar. Police said the raid was the result of a three-month undercover operation in which officers played 8-liner machines and reported payouts of as much as $250 in cash.

Two other people were arrested on unrelated drug warrants during the raid.

Four free-standing 8-liners, two bar-top 8-liners and the cash register were confiscated by police. Members of the CCPD Gang Unit were also called out during the raid because of a rumor that the bar is a hangout for the Bandido motorcycle gang.

CCPD Captain Dave Cook said the machines were illegal, and had a warning for any other business operating 8-liners with Corpus Christi city limits.

"I'm not giving you a blessing to open up any 8-liner operation. The reality of the situation is, if you open it up and we go inside, and you're paying off illegally, we're going to take your machines. We're going to take your assets, and we're going to put you in jail," Cook said. "So operate at your own risk."

One employee was taken into custody while the manager and owner of the bar will also face charges of illegal gaming and promotion of illegal gaming.

Captain Cook said this is the second 8-liner gaming bust at a local business this year.
