Murder Victim's Family Speaks Out About their Brother's Death

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The family of the man found murdered Thursday morning spoke to 3News on Friday, saying that they had warned their brother about the woman who is now charged with murdering him.

Pete Molina and Susan Salcido lived in the 200 block of Edwards Street, where police say Salcido shot and killed her husband. Now Molina's family is left searching for answers, and trying to come up with the money to bury him.

Matilda Esparza and Janie Garcia, Molina's sisters, said their brother had been with Salcido for about six months. Both said he would never hurt a fly, and they had never heard Molina tell them about any fights or arguments that he had with Salcido.

However, they did say that Molina had told them some disturbing details about Salcido's behavior. He said that, at times, she would become very violent if she didn't take her medication.

"He just kept telling me she's crazy when she's not on her meds, but he's never been violent," Esparza said. "He would say she would wake up in the middle of the night and say she saw a man chasing her. He had to hide his knives around the kitchen and the house because she would wake up looking for knives, that there was a man chasing her."

It was just after 1 a.m. Thursday when investigators say that Salcido shot Molina to death in the front yard of their home. No one is sure what sparked the shooting. Officers were sent to the home after they say Salcido called them saying she had shot someone.

Salcido is in the Nueces County Jail on a $1 million bond, and has been given a court appointed attorney to handle her defense.
