G-P, Bluff Sent to the Sidelines at Regional Soccer Tourney

Posted: Updated:

Corpus Christi (kiii sports)- Both Gregory-Portland and Flour Bluff found the going to be tough in Friday's Class 4A Region IV Soccer Semifinals at the Cabaniss Soccer Complex.

The Bluff, playing first, had no defensive answers for an aggressive Leander Rouse team that punched in four first-half goals in route to a 6-0 win.

Gregory-Portland fared better- for a while. After a scoreless first half, Leander Vandegrift finally found a way past outstanding Wildcat keeper, Taylor Roberson. The G-P attack was unable to get in gear against a tight Vandegrift defense as the Vipers eliminate the Lady 'Cats 3-0.

Rouse and Vandegrift will renew their District 51 rivalry at noon on Saturday with a State Tournament berth at stake.
