San Patricio Justice of the Peace Retires During Internal Investigation

SAN PATRICIO COUNTY (Kiii News) -

A Justice of the Peace in San Patricio County is now the target of an unspecified  internal investigation.

Amada Cardenas, who held the Precinct 5 JP seat, decided to retire from the bench before completing her term, but she has not admitted to any wrongdoing.

"We're looking into something," said Michael Welborn, San Patricio County District Attorney. "It probably could be called an investigation. We are not sure where it's going at this particular point in time. We can't even determine at this time whether there is anything criminal about it at all."

Wellborn added that Cardenas will be missed after 20 in the Justice of the Peace court, and said they are now looking into how her position will be filled through the end of the year.
