KINGSVILLE (Javelina Athletics) - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team rode a 6-run explosion in the bottom of the sixth to a 10-2 win at Nolan Ryan Field over Eastern New Mexico on Friday.

The Javelinas (28-13, 19-8) and Greyhounds (21-20, 10-17) meet in a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game at 1 p.m.

After the Greyhounds tied the game at two in the top of the sixth, the Javelinas struck for six runs in the bottom of the sixth taking an 8-2 lead.

Clint Wallace singled to start the inning and, after a sacrifice bunt by Justin Lee, went to third on a single by Dustin Aguilar. Derrick Walls beat out a grounder to first for a single driving in Wallace. Miles Holcomb knocked in Aguilar with a single that bounced into center off the pitcher's rubber. Walls scored on an errant throw for the third run.

With two away, Ryan Guedry kept inning alive by drawing a walk. Along with Holcomb, Guedry would score as Brian Frazier blasted a three-run home run to left-center field off Ben Monticello. The homer was his second of the season.

Kingsville added a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Clint Wallace led the inning off with a double and scored after a Greyhound error. Justin Lee crossed the plate later in the inning on a wild pitch for Kingsville's final run.

Eastern struck first with a run in the top of the first as Brett Ackerman was hit by a pitch and went to second as Blake Cooper walked. Ackerman would score on a 2-out single by Colton Sims.

The Hoggies wasted little time tying the game scoring a run in the bottom of the first.  Derrick Walls led off with a single up the middle. After two straight fly outs, Walls would come around to score on back-to-back base hits by Guedry and Frazier, who finished with four RBI.

Kingsville took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Wallace led of the inning with a single and with one away scored on sacrifice fly to center by Holcomb.

The Javelina defense ended a ENMU threat in the third. Matthew Burks and Brett Ackerman each started the inning with singles, but blunders on the bases ended the threat. After leading off with a single, Burks tried to go third on a single to right by Ackerman. Frazier displayed his throwing arm by tossing out Burks at third. Ackerman was then thrown out at second by Wallace trying to advance on a pitch in the dirt.

Cooper tied the game in the sixth. He walked, stole second and later scored on a wild pitch.

Dallas Ponder moved to 6-1 for the Javelinas with the 21st win of his career to tie for second all-time. He allowed two earned runs on six hits, while striking out five. Ponder walked four. Cody Williams, Hayden James and Dustin Luna combined to pitch three innings of perfect relief to end the game.

Monticello suffered the loss to fall to 4-4. He allowed eight runs – all earned – on 12 hits.

The Hoggies had 16 hits in the game. Wallace led the way going 4-of-5 with three runs scored. Frazier and Aguilar each had three hits, and Walls two. Walls swiped his team-leading 19th stolen base in the contest.

Ackerman and Sims had two hits apiece for the visitors.
