Military Matters: Fleet and Family Support Services
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It's a program designed to help support our military members and their families on a variety of areas of their lives. It's called the Fleet and Family Support Center, and it can be found at both NAS Corpus Christi and NAS Kingsville. From making dollars and sense of their finances, to working through PTSD and stress management, Fleet and Family Services is there to help with a variety of topics, and not just for active duty military but also their families, and even veterans.
The services are free, all paid for by the government.
Jo Walter is the director of the support center. She helps service members mentally prepare for deployment, as well as help them adjust when they come back home to their families.
Walter said, "because the family has gone on, the spouse that has stayed behind has learned to take care of all the issues at home, take care of the car insurance, get the kids to school, only ones running the show. The service member comes back in and has lost their place, get things back to the way they were before."
