Shred Day Helps Keep Important Information Out of the Wrong Hands

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -      A busy day here at our Kiii studios as many of you stopped by to take advantage of Shred Day. Cars started showing up as early as 6 AM. That's 3 hours before the event was even scheduled to begin!  As the day went on, the line of cars stretched all the way down to La Palmera Mall along SPID.  It's about making sure no one steals your identity. In those bags that were dropped off, was important information all about you. Everything from bills to receipts, things you don't want to get into the wrong hands. Some residents had to wait about 1 hour just to shred their documents.
Workers say everyone was very patient and polite.  Also here at our studios was the electronics recycling event where residents could recycle cell phones and computers with personal information.
Not only is this a safe way to get rid of your stuff but it's also environmental friendly.  Drug Take Back was also going on where residents could get rid of their medicines in a proper way with out polluting our pipelines.
Organizers say this was the most successful event they have had so far with over 697 cars that stopped by.
