Students Release Balloons in Memory of 11-Year Old Hailey Flores

ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) - Dozens of balloons could be seen in the air over in Robstown on Monday after they were released in honor of a little girl who passed away last week.

Students from Ortiz Intermediate School released the balloons as 11-year old Hailey Flores' funeral procession passed the school. Hailey passed away after a long battle with leukemia last week.

"One thing she told me was that if she ever went away, she will always remember us in her heart and never let us go," said Kailey Pena, Hailey's classmate.

"She would bring joy to everyone that was down," classmate Megan Ramirez said. "Every time she set foot in that GT room, she would just like bringing joy to every other person in there."

Also as part of Hailey's memorial, her family handed out teddy bears.
