Suspected Counterfeiter Arrested After Foot Pursuit in City's Southside

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - One person was arrested and two were detained at a gas station in the city's southside Tuesday after police were called out due to complaints of suspicious activity. It turns out, police ended up discovering a possible counterfeiter.

It was around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Weber and Holly when police approached the 28-year old suspect, who took off on foot.

"I was afraid I was going to run over him," said Claudia Limon, who saw the suspect running from police. "Glad I didn't, which at least it helped the police catch him."

The suspect ran across Weber into a nearby neighborhood, and at one point, he even broke through a fence to a home in the area. Police eventually arrested the 28-year old man.

A 35-year old female and a 19-year old man that were with the suspect before the chase began were detained.

Back at the truck where police originally confronted the suspect, authorities found credit cards, mail and checks that all belonged to other people. The truck did not come back as stolen, but it was not registered to the suspect.

The 28-year old suspect does have a pending federal case for counterfeiting. As for the charges he faces in Tuesday's incident, those are still pending as police continue to inventory all the items found in his truck.
