Domingo Live Celebrating 50th Anniversary at Sunday Event

Posted: Updated:
ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) - There's plenty to do this weekend, and one event is sure to attract a big crowd on Sunday -- the official celebration of Kiii-TV's Domingo Live 50th Anniversary.

It's a milestone that celebrates not only a television station or a program, but a community -- a region of our great state of Texas that brings families together.

It all started with a unique program hosted by a local radio personality named Domingo Pena. The show was the first of its kind, catering exclusively to the Hispanic market at a time when there were no Spanish-language TV stations.

Since then, it has evolved into a multicultural indigenous South Texas tradition.

On Sunday, Kiii-TV will join with our media partner, KSAB Tejano 99.9, to celebrate our anniversary as well as Cinco de Mayo.

"I tell you what. The two big Tejano generating programs that are on both TV and radio getting together, it's going to be huge," said Danny Perez of KSAB. "it's really awesome, and it's really a big pleasure and honor to have you guys on board this year, tambien."

The day-long activities start at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown.
