Seaweed Returns in Full Force Along Padre Island Shoreline

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Corpus Christi residents have been happy at the return of beach weather in the Coastal Bend, but if you've been out to the beach recently, you probably noticed a familiar sight -- seaweed.

Beach Supervisor Derek Herzog said a lot of seaweed is hitting the entire coastline, but it is perfectly normal.

The City of Corpus Christi does pick up seaweed on a regular schedule because of tourist traffic on local beaches. They either bury the seaweed or use it around the bases of sand dunes to help prevent erosion.

City crews will be on the scene soon to do another cleanup effort.
