Beach Parking Permit Sales Down Slightly from Last Year

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - The sale of beach parking permits this year so far have fallen a bit behind last year's pace, according to the City of Corpus Christi.

The permits allow you to park on beaches around the Coastal Bend, and that includes beaches in Port Aransas and Corpus Christi through both Nueces and Kleberg counties. Beach Supervisor Derek Herzog said they sold just under $160,000 passes last year, which is a record.

"The permits do go to maintaining the beach, beach safety, things like that," Herzog said. "It's a $12 permit. It's good for all of 2014, and you can get them at any local store."

Most Stripes and HEB stores offer the passes. Parking without the permit could wind up costing you $150.
