Off-Duty Firefights Install New TVs at Ronald McDonald House

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Some 25 off-duty firefighters showed up at the Ronald McDonald House Wednesday to install new flatscreen TVs and mount them on the walls.

The organization recently received a grant to replace those old bulky tube televisions, and the Corpus Christi Fire Department agreed to donate their services for the cause, just like they did last year when they helped change out the old beds.

"It makes you feel good," CCFD paramedic Brian Pike said. "It gives back to the community. Gives back to these people who are needing some help, and God forbid one of my kids ever gets sick and had to be here."

"Being in the fire department, we're all tinkerers," CCFD paramedic Carlos Bazan said. "We work on different types of things. A lot of us have side jobs -- electricians, mechanics -- and this just kind of fell into our forté."
