Construction Going Full-Steam Ahead for Padre Island Schlitterbahn

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - If you are wondering about Schlitterbahn and its construction out on Padre Island, the folks who will be running the water park say things are going fantastic.

"We cannot wait to open up and give Corpus Christi an amazing water park and resort," said Colette Rye of Schlitterbahn marketing. "Restaurants, fine dining, golf, so many amenities. It's going to be great."

Rye said construction on the massive project is continuing at full speed, not just on Padre Island, but at New Braunfels, where rides are being built for the new facility. Those rides will then be shipped down to the Island and set up.

While there is still lots of work to be done, the water park will be opening up very soon.

"At this point, the park will be doing a soft opening on May 31," Rye said. "We're very excited to open it up to give people a preview of what our park is going to be, and we're looking forward to a kiddie pool, probably a swim up bar and our restaurant, and we will continue opening attractions and adding rides throughout the course of the season."
