CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Police closed down eastbound lanes of Saratoga between Montecita and Staples, in front Jason's Deli, due to an accident in that area at around 3 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the driver of a gray car was heading westbound on Saratoga when he jumped the median and clipped a sport utility vehicle that was traveling east. The SUV flipped and its female driver became trapped inside.

Emergency responders had to cut the roof off of the SUV to free the driver.

Both drivers involved in the accident were transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital with injuries that police said are not life threatening. At this point, nobody has been cited for causing the accident.

As for why the driver jumped the median in the first place, police are still investigating.
