Gravel Truck Rolls Over on Southbound Side of Harbor Bridge

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - A gravel truck driver that swerved to avoid a stalled vehicle on the Harbor Bridge lost control of his vehicle and made quite a mess on the southbound lanes of the bridge Tuesday morning, putting a stop to traffic for some time.

Police said it was around 9:15 a.m. when a car ran out of gas on the Harbor Bridge. As the driver of the gravel truck approached from behind, he quickly swerved to avoid the stalled out vehicle. That's when the driver lost control of the truck and rolled over, spilling gravel all over the road.

First responders quickly cleared the bridge of traffic and closed off the southbound lanes to traffic as they began the clean up process, as well as the difficult process of righting the heavy gravel truck and removing it from the bridge. The bridge was reopened to traffic by around 11:30 a.m.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident.
