Weather Delays Local Delegation Heading to Austria

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Mayor Nelda Martinez and a group of dignitaries representing the Port and local business development were supposed to fly out of Corpus Christi Tuesday afternoon for a business trip to Linz, Austria, headquarters of Voestalpine, but thunderstorms wreaked havoc on airline schedules around Texas.

Voestalpine is building the new $700 million iron ore processing plant near Portland.

The local delegation was supposed to fly out to Houston Tuesday, but because of the rough weather, their flight was canceled. They wound up driving to Houston to pick up a connecting flight there.

Assuming the weather improves on Wednesday, Kiii News Anchor Joe Gazin will be joining the group in Austria to show you what the group is seeing and doing, and what it could mean in terms of future economic development here.
