Construction Site to Honor Hit and Run Victim

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Starting on Monday, drivers in this area of McArdle near Nile will see a special tribute for Kimberly Encinia when "The Kimberly" excavator will be unveiled.  It's a hot pink Caterpillar excavator, which will be used during the new road and sidewalk construction as a reminder not only who she was but that her case still remains a mystery. Kimberly died in February of 2012 after she was hit by a car while she was walking to church.  More than two years after the tragic accident, the only information police have to go on is that a 2002 to 2004 Nissan Xterra may have been the vehicle that struck Kimberly.  Construction is set to be completed - including sidewalks, a bike trail and wider roads - August of 2016.   If anyone has any information that can help police solve this case, call Crimestoppers 888-TIPS.
