UPDATE: Lockdown Lifted at Fort Hood

Posted: Updated:
UPDATE: May 22, 2014, 5:10 p.m. -- The lockdown on Fort Hood has been lifted.

Traffic is now open in both directions.

(KCEN) -- Fort Hood is being shut down due to an investigation.

Officials say that there is no active incident as of 5 p.m. Fort Hood is calling this a precautionary security measure.

All entry onto the post has been blocked off. Officials say that nobody is allowed onto Fort Hood but people are allowed to leave.

A Public Affairs officer tells KCEN that they are trying to keep "someone or something from entering Fort Hood." The official said a call came in at 3 p.m. that gave the commander cause to close inbound traffic.

III Corps and Fort Hood have released this statement:

"Precautionary security measures enacted. Effective immediately, all inbound traffic into Fort Hood has been blocked at all access control points due to a potential force protection issue. All outbound traffic is flowing normally."

There have been reports of remains found on post, but it was confirmed that it is unrelated to the closure. Those are believed to be animal remains. The call about animal remains came in at the same time as the call that caused the shutdown.
