Ben Bolt ISD School Board Votes to Not Renew Athletic Director's Contract

Posted: Updated:
BEN BOLT (Kiii News) - Following a late night meeting of the Ben Bolt Independent School District board Wednesday, a decision was made about the future of Ben Bolt High School track coach and athletic director Jeff LeFevre.

LeFevre has recently come under fire from some parents who say he left their children unsupervised during a team trip to San Antonio. They say that, while he was drinking at a bar, some of those students took part in some sexual misconduct.

The school board meeting went on for hours, starting at 7:30 p.m., and when the issue came up about what to do about the contractual status of the athletic director, the board went into executive session, behind closed doors, at around 8:30 p.m. They didn't reach a decision for another four hours.

LeFevre was at the meeting, but did not make any comments regarding his situation or the controversy surrounding him or the school trip to San Antonio.

After all was said and done, some time after midnight, the school board voted unanimously to not renew LeFevre's contract. He is currently in the middle of a two-year contract, so he still has one more year left on his contract. After that, he will no longer be an employee of the district.

LeFevre does have 15 days to appeal the board's decision.
