Man Arrested, Charged with Aggravated Assault After Shooting Tuesday

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Jesus Gamez, 53, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a shooting at a business in the 5700 block of Greenwood Drive Tuesday. A 50-year old male had been shot in the chest.

It was around 6:30 p.m. when police received the call. When they arrived, the discovered that the victim had made his way to a home in the 1400 block of Acapulco Street. Police received a description of the suspect's vehicle, a maroon 1991 Jeep Wrangler, which they observed in the area and attempted to stop.

The Jeep drove around the neighborhood for some time, and officers observed the suspect throwing a gun out of the window. Eventually, the driver returned to the scene of the crime and crashed the Jeep into the victim's truck, which the victim had abandoned.

The victim, who police say was a known gang member, was transported to an area hospital. Police located the gun and arrested Gamez and charged him with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony.
