CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - If you are in the market for a new car, the Corpus Christi Police Department's auto impound auction is taking place 10 a.m.-noon Saturday and features about 100 cars.

The auction is held the first Saturday of each month at the CCPD impound lot at 5485 Greenwood Drive. The vehicles were impounded by police for various reasons and also include trailers and RVs.

The City of Corpus Christi said more than $800,000 a year is generated by the auction sales.

The vehicles are generally resold for 40-percent less than their wholesale price, depending on the condition of the vehicle. Buyers must bring cash, check or credit cards, and the lot opens at 8 a.m. Saturday before the auction begins at 10 a.m.
