Christus Spohn Alice Recognized by March of Dimes Think 39 Campaign

Posted: Updated:
ALICE (Kiii News) - The March of Dimes recognized Christus Spohn Hospital Alice Tuesday morning for reducing the number of elective inductions and caesarean deliveries performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy.

Christus Spohn officials say that waiting to deliver a baby after the 39-week mark gives the baby a healthy start at life. It's a time when babies are undergoing important development in their brain, lungs and other vital organs.

At the hospital Tuesday morning, March of Dimes officials recognized Christus Spohn Alice clinicians and offered encouragement to Coastal Bend mothers to deliver their babies at full-term -- part of their Think 39 campaign, which partners delivering hospitals, NICUs and maternal child health care providers to get the word out that "healthy babies are worth the wait."
