New City Attorney Nominee Reprimanded at Job in Wichita Falls

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - The man tagged by City Manager Ron Olson to be the new city attorney was reprimanded in his current job for violating the ethics and compliance policy.

Miles Risley, who currently serves as the city attorney in Wichita Falls, Texas, intervened when security officers at a festival detained his wife back in May. The incident reportedly involved a public intoxication complaint against Risley's wife.

Risley was accused of trying to influence officers actions. 3News reached out to Risley for comment but he was unavailable.

Corpus Christi officials said they were aware of his reprimand, but said his qualifications outweighed his lapse in judgement in connection with the festival incident.

Risley's nomination as the new city attorney is expected to be voted on by the full City Council at their next meeting. He could begin his new job by mid-August.
