Thousands of Illegal Immigrants Being Housed in Rio Grande Valley

Posted: Updated:
MCALLEN, Texas (Kiii News) - Thousands of illegal immigrants continue to converge on several border towns in search of a better life, with their numbers increasing so rapidly as of late that cities are scrambling to find a place to house them.

Kiii News Reporter Rudy Trevino went Live from McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley to bring you a firsthand look at the challenges the influx is causing.

Meanwhile, a group of Texas volunteers have set up mobile clinics to aid thousands of young illegal immigrants and families crossing the border into the U.S.

The volunteers are helping feed, clothe and provide medical care to those being released by the U.S. Border Patrol. The makeshift site also features mobile showers and hygiene items.

The unit and the supplies are donated.

Immigrants do not have to sign any paperwork to get treatment from the mobile clinic, and the U.S. Border Patrol is not part of the effort.
