Arrest Warrants Issued for Suspect in Alice Shooting

ALICE (Kiii News) - The Alice Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place at around 1 p.m. Friday near Salazar Elementary School on Pierce Street.

Police said two arrest warrants have been issued for the suspect wanted in the shooting. Detectives are currently looking for 35-year old Samuel Vela on charges of deadly conduct and having a prohibited weapon in a weapon-free zone.

Neighbors said they heard five shots being fired. Thankfully, police said no one was injured.

The neighborhood is said to be a safe one, where kids are normally outside playing. The shooting took nearby residents by surprise.
