ROCKPORT (Kiii News) - A Rockport sales clerk is recovering in a Corpus Christi hospital after being shot in the leg by a suspected robber just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say the shooting happened at the Four Seasons Mart on Highway 35 South, just blocks from the Rockport Police Department. Lt. Larry Sinclair of the Rockport Police Department said first responders arrived to find the store employee with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The suspected gunman ran off and remains on the loose.

"The suspect is reported to be a white or Hispanic male, approximately five-foot five to five-foot eight in height," Sinclair said. "Very thin build, and was last seen wearing a black or dark colored hoodie and black or dark colored pants."

The clerk is expected to be okay. Sinclair said it is unknown if the shooter took anything from the store.
