Educators Attend Five-Day Workshop on Uranium Mining Industry

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Some South Texas educators spent this week in class learning about the local uranium mining industry. It's a five-day workshop hosted by the Texas Mining and Reclamation Association.

Some of the lessons included were mining techniques and radiation safety, and educators said they even took a uranium mining plant tour in Brooks County last Tuesday. The teachers said the conference will help them explain the uranium mining process to students.

Folks from the Texas Mining and Reclamation Association said they hosted the workshop to dispel some of the myths about the nuclear energy.
