SINTON (Kiii News) - Donna Thomas, the woman accused of forgery and misappropriation of fiduciary property in regards to scholarship fund in honor of a U.S. Marine from Sinton, was arrested Thursday and promptly posted bail.

Thomas has been charged with two counts of felony forgery and four counts of misappropriation of fiduciary property. She was formerly indicted by a San Patricio County Grand Jury in late July and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Her crimes are alleged to have taken place between July and December of 2012. Thomas was in charge of a scholarship fund that was set up in Sinton in honor of Corporal Mark Goyet, a local U.S. Marine who was killed in Afghanistan in the summer of 2011.

An investigation had been launched into the management of the fund after questions arose regarding just who received the scholarships and where the money was. At the time, authorities said thousands of dollars could be missing.
