Electric Bill Help

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -     A local non-profit has received a grant from the state to help people of very low income pay their electric bill for a few months.
With us being in one of the hottest months of the year, this grant could go a long way for folks that really need the help.
So you're probably wondering if you qualify for this grant?  Well the Nueces County Community Action Agency first and foremost helps
elderly, disabled and families with children five and under.  So if you're in that category you *may qualify.  Also, you must meet 125 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines.
For example, if you're in a household of four you can not earn more than $29,813 a year.  It's a program that can really help a lot of people who are really in need.
Guy Nickleson, the founder of LEAD First said, "imagine being able to qualify for the next six seven months and not having to pay that that's a large savings for a family that may be struggling."
The best thing you can do is call the Nueces County Community Action Agency.  Their number is 361-882-4193.
There is a limited amount of money to go around so the faster you contact them to see if you qualify the better.
