CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - The man who allegedly amputated the leg of Bugsey, a five-year old eskimo mix-breed at the center of a recent case of animal cruelty, was arrested without incident Friday at this home in the 3600 block of Topeka Street.

According to police, 48-year old Steven Mulligan allegedly cut Bugsey's leg off after it had become infected from a previous injury. Bugsey was taken to a veterinary clinic where a member of Rescue 361, an animal rescue group, took notice.

Mulligan is now facing a charge of cruelty to animals. Bugsey is recovering from treatment and is awaiting surgery at the Gulf Coast Humane Society. After that, he will be taken to a no-kill shelter in San Antonio.
